Athletic Taping
Many of our sports patients utilize this technique that applies tape to the affected area’s skin, helping the soft tissue underneath receive better blood and oxygen flow, reducing inflammation, and supporting and relaxing injured or painful muscles and joints.
What Does Taping Do For Athletes?
By helping to increase blood flow in the injured area, athletic tape decreases swelling which alleviates pain. The elasticity of the athletic tape can also serve as support for the affected muscles. It naturally goes back to its original position, which takes some of the workload off of the athlete's muscle.
Some Common Uses For Tape Are:
- Stabilizing ankles.
- Supporting knees.
- Strengthening shoulder muscles.
- Supporting weak or injured muscles.
- Improving muscle contraction.
- Preventing overuse.
